Dunbarton High School Competes in Durham-Area White Pine Battle of the Books

Congratulations to Pickering's Dunbarton High School, which competed in the Durham-Area White Pine Battle of the Books, Wednesday at the Oshawa Public Library. They faced tough competition from eight other High School Teams. Notre Dame Catholic High School in Ajax was the 2011 White Pines Battle of the Books winning team.

HALO Reach Tournament Results: Hail to the Queen!

After a series of tough matches, four competitors had risen to compete in the Finals. After the dust settled, the reigning Queen of the tournament had been decided; Victoria had defeated all comers, winning herself $15 of Chapters gift cards. Second place was taken by Daniel, who walked away with $10 dollars of Chapters gift cards. 3rd and 4th place were taken by Mickael and Eamon respectively, who each took home a $5 gift card.

It was freezing cold at harbourfront on May 12, but that didn't stop 3, 500 readers from coming out and cheering on their favourite authors. It was an inspiring site to see the enthusiasm for Canadian books and how much the young adult genre has grown.
